Gaziantep kurtuluş mücadelesini günümüze taşıyan anıt: Şehitler Abidesi

Abstract

Gaziantep halkı, 25 Aralık 1921 tarihinde kazandığı tam bağımsızlığını kutlamak ve şehitleri anmak amacıyla 25 Aralık 1935 tarihinde Gaziantep Şehitler Abidesi’nin açılışını büyük bir törenle gerçekleştirmiştir. Bu araştırmada; çeşitli yazılı kaynakların, Abide’nin açılışını belgeleyen tören filminin ve fotoğrafçı Halit Ziya Biçer ile yapılacak olan röportajın katkılarıyla Gaziantep’in toplumsal hafızasında önemli bir yer edinmiş olan Şehitler Abidesi’nin tarihi incelenecektir. Şehitler Abidesi’nin yapılış amacı, süreci, genel özellikleri ve toplumsal hafızadaki yeri hakkındaki incelemeler ve bilgiler bu makalede yansıtılacaktır.

On 25 December 1935, people of Gaziantep held a ceremony for opening the Monument of Martyrs in order to celebrate the gaining of total independence on 25 December 1935 and to commemorate martyrs. In this research; in the light of various written sources, the film evidencing the opening ceremony of the Monument and the interview with photographer Halit Ziya Biçer the history of the Gaziantep Monument of Martyrs which has an important role in creating the collective memory is researched. This article gives information and carries out evaluation on the Monument’s purpose of construction, general properties of the Monument and the role of the Monument in the collective memory.
