dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu makalede Ankara’nın ilk asrî mezarlığı olan Cebeci Asrî Mezarlığının tarihi; kuruluşundan günümüze mezarlığın bölümlerinde yapılan değişiklikler, mezarlığa defnedilen insan profilinin ve mezar taşlarının yıllara göre değişimi, Ankara’da bulunan mezarlıklar içerisindeki yeri ve önemi incelenerek anlatılacaktır. 1935 yılında Martin Elsaesser tarafından tasarlanan plan çerçevesinde 1941’de inşa edilmiş olan mezarlığın açılışı, bölümlere ayrılması ve mezar taşlarının ait olduğu dönemin sosyokültürel yapısını nasıl yansıttığı Ankara şehir planları, mezarlık planları, gazete haberleri, mezarlık ve çevresinden fotoğraflar esas alınarak bu çalışmada yerini alacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this research paper, the history of Cebeci Modern Cemetery, the first modern cemetery of Ankara, will be examined through the changes in its sections and changes of profiles and gravestones of people buried in the cemetery throughout the years. It will also be compared with other cemeteries in Ankara and Turkey to emphasize the significance of Cebeci Modern Cemetery among them. The history of Cebeci Modern Cemetery, which was planned by Martin Elsaesser in 1935 and opened to service in 1941, will be told starting from its opening and compartmentalization with a focus on the sociocultural aspects of gravestones via Ankara city plans, cemetery plans, news form newspapers and photographs of the cemetery and its environment.en_US
