Mehmet Gürsoy: çini sanatına yeniden hayat veren bir usta

Abstract

Yaklaşık bin yıllık bir tarihe sahip olan çini sanatı, eski Türk devletlerinde sıkça kullanılmış ve zamanla Türk mimarisinde de yoğun bir şekilde yer almıştır. Karahanlılardan başlayıp Osmanlı döneminde İznik geleneğiyle olgunluğa ulaşan çini sanatının korunması, öğretilmesi ve gelecek nesillere aktarılması amacıyla bugün birçok sanatkar faaliyet göstermektedir. Bu değerli sanatçılardan biri olan Mehmet Gürsoy, çini sanatına olan ilgisini Kütahya'da yaşarken fark etmiş ve 1975 yılında çini sanatıyla ilgilenmeye başlamıştır. Gürsoy, çini sanatının 16. yüzyıldaki eserleriyle günümüzdeki eserleri arasında büyük farklar olduğunu gözlemlemiş ve bu sanatı canlandırmak, günümüze taşımak amacıyla çalışmalar yapmıştır. Çini sanatının inceliklerini öğrenmek için geleneksel İznik eserlerden yola çıkarak 16. yüzyıldaki çini sanatının estetiğini ve ahengini öğrenmiştir. Mehmet Gürsoy, çini sanatında hem yurtiçinde, hem de yurt dışında tanınan bir sanatçı olmuş ve Osmanlı döneminden günümüze kadar taşınan çini sanatına yeni yorumlar getirmiştir. Kendine özgü bir sanat dili ve felsefesi olan Gürsoy, çini sanatını sadece bir seramik türü olarak değil, bir “göz musikisi olarak” görmektedir.

The art of tiles, which has a history of about a thousand years, was frequently used in the old Turkish states and over time, it took an intense place in Turkish architecture. Many artisans are active in order to protect, teach and transfer the art of tiles, which started from the Karakhanids and reached maturity with the Iznik tradition in the Ottoman period. Mehmet Gürsoy, one of these valuable artists, noticed his interest in tile art while living in Kütahya and started to be interested in tile art in 1975. Gürsoy has observed that there are great differences between the works of tile art in the 16th century and the works of today, and he has worked to revive this art and carry it to the present day. He learned the aesthetics and harmony of tile art in the 16th century by starting from traditional Iznik works to learn the intricacies of tile art. Mehmet Gürsoy has become an artist known both in Turkey and abroad in the art of tiles and has brought new interpretations to the art of tiles, which has been carried from the Ottoman period to the present day. Gürsoy, who has a unique art language and philosophy, sees tile art not only as a type of ceramics, but also as a "music for the eye".
