dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada, Badin-Defforey ailesi ve Marcel Fournier’in görüşmeleri sonucu, Paris’te 1959 yılında açılan Carrefour’un kuruluş süreci incelenmiştir. Carrefour’un, Sabancı Holding ile birleşerek 1993 yılında “Türkiye’nin ilk hipermarketi” unvanını alması ve büyümesinden bahsedilmektedir. CarrefourSA’nın Türkiye’de kurulduğu süreçte Türk tüketicilerinin perakende sektöre bakışı ve market alışkanlıkları araştırılmıştır.. CarrefourSA’nın kurumsal sitesinde belirtilen ve gündemde yer almış çeşitli sosyal sorumluluk projeleri ve bu projelerin topluma katkıları açıklanmıştır. Yukarıda belirtilenler hakkında, olaylara birinci elden tanıklık etmiş yetkililerden bilgi toplanmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this study, the establishment process of Carrefour, which opened in Paris in 1959, as a result of the negotiations between the Badin-Defforey family and Marcel Fournier, is examined. Carrefour, incorporated with Sabancı Holding, labeled as “Turkey’s first hypermarket” in 1993 is explained. During the establishment process of CarrefourSA in Turkey, the perspective of Turkish consumers on the retail sector and their grocery habits were investigated. Social awareness projects shown on CarrefourSA’s website, and the contributions of these projects to society are exemplified. Information about the forenamed issues are collected from the authorities who witnessed the events.en_US
