dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBektaşiliğin Balım Sultan soyundan geldiğini iddia eden ve Dediği Sultan Tekkesi’nde vazifelerini yerine yerine getirmektedir. Balım Sultan’ın adını ailenin soyadında yaşatmaktadırlar. Bababalım ailesi, Milli Mücadele’nin en büyük destekçilerinden olup Denizli Vakası’nda da önemli bir rol oynamışlardır. Milli Mücadele’den sonra tekkelerin kaldırılmasını takiben Atatürk Bektaşilik üzerine tasarıları yeniden gündeme getirmek istemiştir ancak hastalığı yüzünden bu konu gündemden düşmüştür. Bababalım ailesi ise Milli Mücadele’den sonra farklı yönlere dağılmışlardır. Bababalım ailesinin en meşhur üyesi Hüseyin Mazlum ve çocukları Pamukkale Turizm adlı ulaşım şirketini kurmuştur. Ailenin bazı fertlerinin ikamet ettiği Dediği Tekkesi ise hala geleneksek faaliyetlerine devam etmektedir.
dc.description.abstractOne of the many important people that improved the Bektashi was Balım Sultan and his descendants who chose the last name Bababalım followed his footsteps and improved the Bektashi, supported the Turkish Independence War. They also took a huge part in Denizli Incident. After the Turkish Independence War, dervish lodges are abolished and Ataturk wanted to took the Bektashi one step further. However, due to his illnes this topic would never be discussed again. Bababalım family lived an ordinary life after the war. Some members of the family created a bus company called “Pamukkale Turizm” to improve transportation. Some of the family members remain in the Dediği Tekkesi these days.
