| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Rüstem Eyüboğlu daha 13 yaşında ufak bir çocukken memleketinden çalışmak için ayrıldı. Ailesinin geçim sıkıntılarından dolayı 16 yaşında baba mesleği olan gemicilik ile uğraşmaya başlayarak ilk iş deneyimini burada gerçekleştirdi. Olanakların yetersizliğinden ve çalışması gerektiğinden ilk etapta okulu bırakmak zorunda kaldı. Daha sonra bir Almanya seferinde tanıştığı Ahmet isimli stajyer, kendisine ders verdi ve onu liseye devam etmesi için teşvik etti. Rüstem Eyüboğlu böylece tekrardan okula başladı. 1956’da gemilerde çalışmayı bırakan Eyüboğlu, 1957’de Fatih’teki Gelenbevi Ortaokulu’na gitti. Tekrardan başladığı eğitim hayatını başarılı ve hızlı bir şekilde bitirdi. Üniversite yıllarında dershanelerde öğretmenlik yapan Eyüboğlu daha sonrasında özel ders vermeye başlayarak kısa sürede başarıyı yakaladı. Bunlardan sonra kendi dershanesini açmaya karar veren Eyüboğlu, eğitim hayatındaki ilk büyük adımını 6 Mart 1970’te Arı Dershaneleri’ni kurarak attı. “Hayatımın aşkı” diye tabir ettiği Burçak Hanım ile de 1972’de nişanlanıp, 1973’te evlendi. Eğitim dünyasına ‘Arı Dershanesi’ ile adım atan Eyüboğlu daha sonra işlerini büyüterek resmi olarak Eyüboğlu Eğitim Kurumları’nı kurdu ve okullarını günümüzde de İstanbul’un önde gelen eğitim kurumları arasında yer alan bir okul haline getirdi. Eyüboğlu Özel Okulları, şu anda ise pek çok konuda diğer kurumlara örnek ve liderlik etmektedir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Rüstem Eyüboğlu left his homeland in order to work when he was only thirteen years old. Due to the living difficulties of his family, he began to do seamanship which was his father’s profession. This was his first job experience and he was sixteen years old. Due to lack of opportunities and being obliged to work, he had to quit studying. Later, while on a voyage to Germany, he met someone called Ahmet who encourages him to continue high school. Then he started to study again. In 1956, he stopped working at ships and in 1957 he went to Fatih Gelenbevi Elementary School. He finished his studying rapidly and successfully. While studying at university, he had also been teaching at private teaching institution. Then, he started to give private lessons and he became successful in a short time. After, he decided to open his own private teaching institution. So, he opened Private teaching institution of Arı, at 6 March 1970 which was his first major progress in his education life. In 1972, he got engaged with Mrs. Burçak Eyüboğlu that he called “the love of his life” and in 1973 they got married. Stepping a foot in the educational field as a private teaching institution, Rüstem Eyüboğlu then extended his foundation and is now the creator of one of the leading educational institutions in İstanbul. Eyüboğlu Private Schools is now a pathbreaking for other schools in many paths. | |
