| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmada Türkiye’deki çiçekçilik sektörünün başlangıcı, nasıl geliştiği, bugünkü halini nasıl aldığı, kültürel önemi ve anlamı incelendi. Özellikle çiçekler olmak üzere semboller insanlara bir kültürü anlama sürecinde yardımcı olur ve çeşitli çıkarımlara varılmasını sağlar. Bu araştırmanın amaçlarından biri, çiçekçilik anlayışının Türkiye’nin geçmişi boyunca değişen normlarla birlikte nasıl şekil aldığı ve dışarıdan gelen kültürel etkileşimlerin bu süreci nasıl etkilediğidir. Hem Ankara hem de İstanbul’daki farklı çiçekçilerle yapılan röportajlar sonucu derlenen bilgiler yazıya aktarıldı. Eski ve yeni nesil çiçekçilik olmak üzere ikiye ayrılan çiçekçilik sektöründeki zamanla varolan değişiklikler, ikisi arasındaki farklılıklar, ithal ve ihraç edilen çiçek türleri ve kullanım alanları, tarihsel süreçte çiçeklerin taşıdıkları önem, değişen mevsimlere göre çiçek satışlarındaki farklılıklar gibi birçok alt başlığa yer verildi. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This research aims to investigate the beginning, development, current stage and cultural significance of the floriculture in Turkey. One of the main purposes of this research is how has the floriculture have been shaped by the changing norms and interactions with different cultures. Interviews conducted with florists in Ankara and Istanbul have been put into a transcript. Important details such as, the division between “old floriculture” and “new floriculture” has been highlighted, considering the changes took place in the process also imported and exported types of flowers, their uses, significances and seasonal changes in sales have also been emphasized. | |
