dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractülkelerin kültürleri ve tarihi hakkında bilgi edinmek istediğimiz zaman yemek kültürü her zaman büyük bir önem taşır. Bir ülkenin yemeklerinin hazırlanışı incelendiğinde, bu aynı zamanda bize kültürleri hakkında da bilgi verir. İkbal Lokantası’nın Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin erken dönemlerine kadar uzanan tarihi, bu durumun bir göstergesidir. Bu araştırmada, İkbal Lokantası’nın nasıl kurulduğu, yıllar boyunca nasıl geliştiği ve Türk kültür tarihi ile nasıl kesiştiği incelenecektir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe culture of food always carries a significance when it comes to countries’ cultures and their history. When the dishes of a country and the way they are prepared are examined deeply, it reveals a lot about their culture as well. As a proper representation of this situation, the history of “Ikbal Lokantasi” reaches back to the early years of Turkish Republic. In this study, we will deal with how “Ikbal Lokantasi” has been established and developed over the years and how it intercepts with the history of Turkish culture and early years of Turkish Republic.en_US
