dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada 1940 yılında kurulmuş olan Lâdik Akpınar Köy Enstitüsü'nde 1949-1953 yılları arasında eğitim almış Saffet Akbulut'un tecrübeleri üzerinden Lâdik Akpınar Köy Enstitülerindeki eğitim sistemi, bu eğitimin amacı ve Köy Enstitüsü'nün Samsun'un sosyoekonomik yapısına etkileri araştırılmıştır. Çalışmamızın son aşamasında Köy Enstitüleri'nin kapatılma sürecine odaklanılmış ve bu sürecin Lâdik Akpınar Köy Enstitüsü ve Samsun halkı üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractIn this study, the education system of Lâdik Akpınar Village Institutes, the purpose of this education and the effects of the Village Institute on the socioeconomic structure of Samsun were investigated through the experience of Saffet Akbulut who was educated at Lâdik Akpınar Village Institute, which was established in 1940, between 1949 and 1953. In the last stage of our study, the closure process of the Village Institutes was focused and the effects of this process on the Lâdik Akpınar Village Institute and the citizens of Samsun were investigated.
