dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürk meyhane kültüründe İstanbul’daki Kumkapı semti önemli yerlerden biridir. Bu semtte yer alan Kör Agop meyhanesi köklü tarihi ve kendine has özellikleriyle meyhane ortamının deneyimlenebileceği önemli bir mekândır. Kurucusu Agop İnciyan’ın balıkçılık ile uğraşırken kurduğu bu meyhane günümüzde de hizmet vermeye devam etmektedir. Bu araştırma makalesinde bu meyhanenin günümüze kadar hizmet vermesinde etkili olan olgular incelenmiştir. Meyhanenin çok özel müşteri profili ve kurucusu Agop İnciyan ile ilişkileri de ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca meyhanenin müşterilerine sunduğu hizmetlerle Türk meyhane kültürünü yansıtması açısından önemi de ele alınmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractKumkapı location in Istanbul is an important place for Turkish tavern culture. Kör Agop Tavern which stands in Kumkapı is a significant point for experiencing the tavern environment by its rooted history and unique properties. This tavern which was founded by Agop Inciyan at his fishermen times, still continues to work today. In this research paper, the factors which contributed the long term service are examined. In addition to that, unique customer profile of the tavern and their relationship with Agop Inciyan are investigated. Lastly, the services provided by the tavern and its importance from Turkish tavern culture perspective is also analysed.en_US
