dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractFener Rum Lisesi kurulduğundan bu yana birçok isimle anılmış, İstanbul Fener’de kuruluşu İstanbul’un fethine kadar dayanan köklü bir okuldur. Sadece kendi temsil ettiği Rum halkına değil, bir parçası olduğu Osmanlı Devleti sarayına da ileri seviye eğitim verdiği mezunlarını görevli olarak yerleştirmiştir. Mimarisi ve eğitimi bakımından var olduğu her dönemde şehrin tacı sayılabilecek ve farklı şekillere benzetilebilecek bu okul, bir azınlık okulu olmasından dolayı yıllar içinde Osmanlı Devleti’nde uygulanan Tanzimat Fermanı, Islahat Fermanı ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin yürürlüğe koyup imzaladığı Tevhid-i Tedrisat Kanunu ve Lozan Antlaşması gibi çeşitli olaylara bağlı olarak eğitim anlayışında değişiklikler yaşayarak günümüze kadar gelmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractFener Greek High School, which has been defined by many names since its establishment, is a well-established school in Fener, Istanbul, whose foundation dates back to the conquest of Istanbul. Not only to the Greek people it represented, but also to the Ottoman State palace, of which it was a part, and in which advanced education was given, it placed its graduates as officers. This school, which can be considered as the crown of the city in every period of its existence in terms of architecture and education, can be resembled to different shapes. Since it is a minority school, it has come to this day by experiencing many changes and developments due to the events such as The Tanzimat Edict, the Reform Edict and the Law of Unification of Education and the Treaty of Lausanne signed by the Republic of Turkey.en_US
