dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractAraştırmamız, Stalin’in 1927-1933 yılları arasında iktidara gelişiyle başlayan süreç beraber 1935-55 yılları arasındaki Türkiye politikalarını ve bunların Türk basınındaki etkilerini konu edinecektir. O dönemde olanları ve bunların basına yansıyışını daha iyi anlayabilmek için öncelikle dönemle ilgili bilgi verilip dönemin atmosferinin daha iyi anlaşılması sağlanacaktır. İlk olarak 2. Dünya Savaşı’nın süregelen ilişkilere etkisi incelenecek ve son olarak da savaştan sonra Stalin’in de ölümüyle ilişkilerin nasıl bir yol izlediği ve buna basında nasıl yer verildiği anlatılacaktır. Bahsedilen süreç içerisinde sürgün edilen azınlıkların durumuyla beraber Boğazlar Sorunu ve Kars-Ardahan Meselesi gibi meseleler de basın üzerinden anlatılacaktır.
dc.description.abstractOur research will focus on the Turkish policies of 1935-1955 and the effects of these in the Turkish press in the period that began with Stalin's coming to power between 1927 and 1933. In order to better understand what happened in that period and their reflection in the press, firstly information about that period will be given and a better understanding of the atmosphere of the period will be provided. Then, the effects of World War II on the ongoing relations will be examined and finally, after the war, how the relations with the death of Stalin follow and how it is mentioned in the press will be explained. Issues such as the issue of the Bosphorus and the Kars-Ardahan issues will be explained through the press in the process.
