Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı’nın Marunilere etkisi: Koruçam köyü

Abstract

Konumu sayesinde Doğu Akdeniz’in önemli noktalarından biri olan Kıbrıs Adası tarih boyunca çeşitli topluluklara ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Bu toplulukların büyük bir çoğunluğunu çeşitli azınlık gruplar oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışma, Lübnan’dan göçleri sonrasında söz konusu azınlık gruplardan biri hâline gelen Marunileri ele almaktadır. Kültürlerini ve kendi kilise geleneklerini de beraberinde getirerek Kıbrıs’a yerleşen Marunilerin çoğu, 1974 Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı ile Kıbrıs Rum toplumunun bir parçası olmak için kuzeyden güneye göç etmiştir. Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde (KKTC) kalmayı tercih eden Maruni nüfusu ise çoğunlukla Koruçam köyünde varlıklarını sürdürmektedir. Koruçam halkı, harekât sonrasında ortaya çıkan siyasi değişikliklere ve zorluklara rağmen kültürlerini korumak için çabalarını devam ettirmektedir. Bu araştırma makalesi; tarihî çalışmalar, sözlü tarih kapsamında yapılan röportajlar ve diğer ikincil kaynaklardan yararlanarak Koruçam Marunilerinin dinî, kültürel ve sosyal kimliklerini ele alırken 1974 Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı’nın topluluk üzerindeki etkilerine odaklanmaktadır.

Due to its strategic location, the island of Cyprus has historically hosted various communities, making it one of the significant places in the Eastern Mediterranean. A large majority of these communities consisted of various minority groups. This study focuses on the Maronites, one of the before-mentioned minority groups, who became part of the island’s population after migrating from Lebanon. Most of the Maronites brought their culture and religious practices with them and settled in Cyprus. Many Maronites relocated after the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation to become part of the Greek Cypriot community. However, the Maronite population that chose to remain in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has primarily continued to sustain its presence in the village of Kormacit. Despite the political changes and challenges that emerged after the operation, the people of Kormacit have continued their efforts to preserve their culture. This research paper, utilizing historical studies, oral history interviews, and various other secondary sources, examines the Maronites' religious, cultural, and social identities in Kormacit while focusing on the effects of the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation on the community.
