| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Bu makalede, yönetmen, yapımcı ve senarist Raşit Demirtaş, belgesel yönetmeni Alper Tunga Özdemir ve yönetmen, yapımcı ve öğretim görevlisi Mihriban Sezen’in belgeselcilik kariyerleri ve Türkiye’de belgeselcilik hakkındaki görüşleri ele alınmıştır. Demirtaş, Özdemir ve Sezen’in belgeselcilik kariyerleri anlatılmadan önce, belgeselin doğuşundan ve belgesel filmin dünyadaki gelişiminden bahsedilmiştir. Bunun ardından, belgesel sinemanın çeşitli tanımları incelenmiş, belgesel sinema türleri ve Türkiye’de sıkça rastlanan belgesel türleri açıklanmıştır. Belgesel sinemanın Türkiye’de ortaya çıkışı anlatılarak ilk belgesellere örnekler verilmiştir. Türkiye’de belgesel sinemanın gelişimi, bu gelişime katkı sağlayan kurumlar, belgesel sinemanın kamu ve özel sektördeki yeri, Türkiye’de gerçekleşen siyasi ve sosyal olayların belgesel sinemanın gelişimine etkisi incelenmiştir. Aynı zamanda, Demirtaş, Özdemir ve Sezen’le yapılan röportajlarla Türkiye’de belgesel sinemanın geleceğine ışık tutulmaya çalışılmıştır. | |
| dc.description.abstract | In this article, the documentary filmmaking careers of director, producer and screenwriter Raşit Demirtaş, documentary director Alper Tunga Özdemir and director, producer and lecturer Mihriban Sezen and their views on documentary filmmaking in Turkey are discussed. Before describing the documentary filmmaking careers of Demirtaş, Özdemir and Sezen, the birth of the documentary and the development of documentary film in the world are mentioned. Following this, various definitions of documentary cinema are examined, the types of documentary cinema and the types of documentaries frequently encountered in Turkey are explained. The emergence of documentary cinema in Turkey is explained and examples of the first documentaries are given. The development of documentary cinema in Turkey, the institutions contributing to this development, the place of documentary cinema in the public and private sectors, the effects of political and social events in Turkey on the development of documentary cinema are examined. At the same time, interviews with Demirtaş, Özdemir and Sezen were conducted to shed light on the future of documentary cinema in Turkey. | |
