dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractÜlkü Yılmaz 1978’de İzmit’in Kandıra ilçesindeki Kefken adlı kasabada doğdu. Ardından ailesiyle sırasıyla Kocaeli ve İstanbul’da yaşadı. Sanata küçüklüğünden beri ilgisi olan Yılmaz, Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi’nden mezun olmuştur. 2013 yılından itibaren çeşitli sergiler açmaya başlamış ve sanat eserlerinin restorasyonu alanında çalışmıştır. Ülkü Yılmaz’ın sergileri, yalnızca Türkiye ile sınırlı kalmamış; Paris, Miami, Tokyo ve Londra dahil olmak üzere dünyanın farklı yerlerinde de birçok sergi açmıştır. Caravaggio ve Rembrandt isimli ressamlardan etkilenmesinin yanı sıra, Vanitas sembollerini resimlerinde kullanarak sembolist bir yaklaşım sergilemektedir. Bu makalede, Ülkü Yılmaz’ın gerçekleştirdiği sanatsal çalışmaların ve restorasyonların, Türkiye’deki müzelere ve Türk sanatçılara ne kadar önemli bir etkisinin olduğu ele alınacak ve bu doğrultuda bir sonuca varılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractÜlkü Yılmaz was born in 1978 in Kefken, Kandıra district of İzmit. Then she lived with her family in Kocaeli and Istanbul, respectively. Yılmaz, who has been interested in art since her childhood, graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Since 2013, she has started to hold various exhibitions and has worked in the field of restoration of works of art. Not only Ülkü Yılmaz had exhibitions in her home country Turkey, but also she held various exhibitions in different parts of the world, including Paris, Miami, Tokyo, and London. In addition to being influenced by painters named Caravaggio and Rembrandt, she exhibits a symbolist approach by using Vanitas symbols in her paintings. In this article, it will be discussed to what extent the artistic works and restorations of Ülkü Yılmaz have influenced the Turkish museums and artists in Turkey, and a conclusion will be reached accordingly.en_US
