dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu çalışma, 26 Mayıs 1993’ten başlayıp 7 Ekim 1993’de sonlanan İnönü Konserleri’nin nasıl organize edildiği hakkındadır. Buna ek olarak, bu konserlerin Türkiye’de yarattığı sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik etkileri de araştırılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında öncelikle dönemin içinde bulunduğu sosyal, ekonomik ve siyasi durumu incelendi. Türk halkının çeşitli kesimlerinin müzik kültürüne olan bakış açısı ele alındı. Türkiye’nin globalleşmeye yeni adım attığı 1993 yılının neden konserlerin organize edilmesinde ideal yıl olduğu araştırıldı. Konserlerin organize edilme sürecinin detayları, organizatör Ahmet San’ın ağzından anlatıldı. 93’ konserleri sonrası Türk müzik sektöründeki değişimler ve turizm üzerinde genel bir etkinin görülüp görülmediği araştırıldı.
dc.description.abstractThis study is about how the İnönü Concerts, which started from 26 May 1993 and ended on 7 October 1993, were organized. In addition, the social, cultural and economic effects of these concerts in Turkey were also investigated. Within the scope of the research, first of all, the social, economic and political situation of the period was examined. The point of view of various segments of Turkish people on musical culture was discussed. It was investigated why 1993, when Turkey took a new step towards globalization, was the ideal year for organizing concerts. The details of the organization process of the concerts were explained by the organizer Ahmet San. After the 93' concerts, it was investigated whether there was a general effect on the changes in the Turkish music industry and tourism.
