12 Eylül 1980 Darbesi sonrasında üniversitelere getirilen zorunlu dersler

Türkiye'yi derinden etkileyen 12 Eylül 1980 askeri darbesi sonucu yalnızca sosyal yaşamda değil, eğitimde de değişiklikler görüldü. Atatürk ilkeleri ve inkılap tarihi, Türkçe, yabancı dil ve beden eğitimi dersleri üniversitelerin müfredatına zorunlu ders olarak eklendi. 1980'den itibaren günümüze kadar olan süreçte üniversitelerde uygulanan ortak bir müfredatın olmamasından kaynaklı olarak derslerin işleyiş usulleri hem zamana hem de üniversiteye bağlı olarak değişiklik gösterdi. Farklı işleyiş usullerinin yanında bu zorunlu derslerin isimleri de bu zaman içerisinde farklılık gösterdi. Derslerin kanunen zorunlu hale gelmesi ise hem öğretim üyeleri hem de üniversite öğrencileri bakımından çeşitli sonuçlar doğurdu. Beden eğitimi ve yabancı dil gibi bazı derslerin zorunlu hale gelmesi öğrencilerin bu dersleri önemsememesinin sonucu olarak, derse katılım oranının çok düşük olmasına ve böylece dersin başarılı bir şekilde verilememesine sebebiyet verdi. Türkçe ve tarih derslerinde ise ilk başta derslerin içeriği normal bir üniversite ortamında olması gereken bilimsel bir yaklaşım ile öğretilmesi değil, 12 Eylül ideolojisinin ezberletilmesi amaçlandı. Daha sonraki zamanlarda bilimsel yaklaşıma geri dönüldü.

12 September 1980 military coup which affected Turkey in a deeply manner didn't only change the social life but also changed the education type in the universities. Atatürk Principles and History of Revolution, Turkish, Foreign Language, and Physical Education was added as compulsory courses to the curriculum of the universities. Since 1980, due to the lack of common curriculum applied in the universities the procedure of the courses changed in time and wasn't the same in all universities. In addition, the compulsory courses name's changed in time as the procedure changes. The fact that the courses become compulsory by law has resulted in various results for both faculty members and university students. Some courses which become compulsory such as Physical Education and Foreign Language caused the students not to pay attention to the courses and because the participation rate was very low, the course could not be given successfully. In Turkish and History courses the content was not intended to be taught as in a regular university environment with a scientific approach, but it was aimed to memorize the 12 September ideology. In the next years, it turned back to be a scientific approach.
