dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTekin Özertem sanat ve çocuk sevgisiyle sayısız televizyon programına, özellikle çocuk programlarına, doğrudan ya da dolaylı yoldan katılarak hayata geçmelerinde rol oynadı. Türk Klasiklerini televizyona uygulayarak Türk Edebiyatı Klasiklerini yeni medyayı, yani televizyonu kullanarak günümüze bağlamanın dışında sayısız çocuk programıyla medyada çocuklara yer verdi. Bu araştırmada Tekin Özertem’le yapılan röportajlar, kendisinin özel arşivindeki fotoğraflar ve yazılı içerikler incelendi ve bu mikro tarih araştırmasında yer verildi. Özertem’in yazdığı kitaplar kendisinin fikir dünyasına açılan bir kapı oldu. Güler Kabadayının yönledirmesi ve Zekeriya Kabadayıyla yaptığımız röportajlar Tekin Özertem’in Türkiye kültür sanat hayatına en büyük miraslarından biri olan TRT Uluslararası 23 Nisan Çocuk Şenliklerine ışık tuttu. Cumhuriyet Gazetesi'nin arşivini detaylı şekilde inceleyerek Özertem'in dönemin medyası ve toplumu tarafından nasıl algılandığını da öğrenme şansını elde edildi. Cumhuriyet tarihinde önemli bir kültür-sanat ve medya duayeni olan Tekin Özertem’in İzmir Halil Rıfat Paşa Caddesinde başlayan, günümüze kadar devam eden ve toplumumuzda iz bırakan hayat hikayesi bu araştırmayla gözler önüne serildi.en_US
dc.description.abstractTekin Özertem, with his love of art and children, played a role in their coming to life by participating directly or indirectly in countless television programs, especially children's programs. Apart from connecting Turkish Classics to the present day by applying Turkish Classics to TV, using new media, that is, television, he also enabled children to participate in the media with numerous children's programs. In this research, we examined our interview with Tekin Özertem, photographs and written contents in his private archive and included it in our micro-history research. The books written by Özertem became a gateway to his world of ideas. Our interview with Zekeriya Kabadayi and Güler Kabadayi also shed light on Tekin Özertem's TRT International April 23 Children's Festival, one of the greatest legacies of our cultural and artistic life. By examining the archive of Cumhuriyet Newspaper in detail, we had the chance to learn how Özertem was perceived by the media and society of his era. We hope that we revealed Tekin Özertem's life story, which started on İzmir Halil Rıfat Paşa Street, continues until today and has left a mark in our society. He is an important culture-art and media pioneer in the history of the Turkish Republic.en_US
