dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract30 Ekim 1961 tarihinde Almanya’nın Bonn kentinde Türkiye ile Almanya arasında imzalanan işgücü antlaşmasından sonra Almanya’ya birçok Türk işçi geçici olarak göç etmiş ve çeşitli sanayi alanlarında çalışmaya başlamıştır. Giden Türk işçiler manevi ihtiyaçlarının giderilmesi için Almanya’nın farklı kentlerinde birçok cami açmışlar ve bu camiler Almanya’da dernek olarak hizmet vermiştir. Daha sonra Almanya’da yaşayan Türk vatandaşlarının talepleri üzerine Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı tarafından Almanya’daki bu cami derneklerinde hizmet vermek üzere personel atanmış. Atanan bu personeller kısa ve uzun süreli olarak camilerde imamlık görevlerini yerine getirmişlerdir. Daha sonra Almanya’da yaşayan Türk vatandaşları Diyanet İşleri Türk İslam Birliği (DİTİB) adı altında Almanya’da bulunan cami derneklerini bir araya getirerek bir çatı kuruluş kurmuşlardır. DİTİB, Alman yasaları doğrultusunda kurulmuş bir yapıdır ve bağımsız bir sivil toplum kuruluşudur. 05.07.1984 tarihine kurulan DİTİB, eğitim ve din alanında birçok faaliyet göstermektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAfter the labour treaty which was signed between Turkey and Germany on October 30 1961, in the town of Bonn in Germany, many Turkish labourers had migrated temporarily to Germany and began working in various branches of industry. These Turkish labourers opened several mosques in different parts of Germany to meet their moral needs and these mosques had served as associations in Germany. Later on, upon the demands of Turkish citizens living in Germany, staff were appointed to provide services in these mosque associations by the Presidency of Religious Affairs. These staff have done their duties as imams in mosques in short and long term. Later on, Turkish citizens living in Germany established an umbrella organization by gathering the mosque associations under the name of DİTİB (Turkish- Islamic Union for Religious Affairs). DİTİB is an establishment in accordance with German law and it is an independent non-governmental organization. Established on 05.07.1984, DİTİB has many activities in the fields of education and religion.en_US
