dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’de genç nüfusa yönelik şenlik kültürünü başlatan ODTÜ şenlikleri adını duyurdu ve şenlik kültüründe diğer üniversitelere öncü oldu. İlk şenlik olduğu için konseptin başlaması, şenliklerin geçirdiği değişimler ve yaşadığı sorunlara rağmen öğrenciler kendi kurdukları bu konsept içinde yeteneklerini sergilemeye devam etti ve bazen siyasi bazen ekonomik olan problemlerin üstesinden geldi. Bugün, ODTÜ şenliklerini başlatan ve ilerlemesini sağlayan öğrenciler sayesinde Türkiye’de bu şenlikler yerini aldı.en_US
dc.description.abstractMETU is the first foundation who has established the understanding of festivals in Turkey. Therefore, it has leaded other universities to establish such concept. Since it was the first festival, the students continued to demonstrate their talents in thisconcept they established, despite the start of the concept, the changes that the festival went through and the problems they experienced, and they overcame the political and sometimes economic problems. Today, thanks to the METU students who started the festival and progress has taken place in this festival in Turkey.en_US
