dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractKapadokya, üzüm bağları ile Türkiye'nin en köklü bağcılık ve şarap üreticilik merkezlerinden biridir. Bu bölgede üretim gerçekleştiren şarap firmalardan birisi olan Kocabağ 1972 yılında Mehmet Erdoğan tarafından Kapadokya’da kurulmuştur. Kocabağ Şarapları'nın başarı öyküsü, bölgenin iklimi, toprak yapısı ve yerel üzüm türleri gibi doğal avantajları doğru bir şekilde değerlendirmesi ile başlamaktadır. Üretim sürecindeki önemli bir olay ailenin trajik kazası sonrasında üretime ara vermesi ve yıllar sonra tekrar başlamasıdır. Bu süreçte üretim tesislerinin genişletilmesi ve modern tekniklerin kullanılmaya başlanması, şarap üretiminde kaliteyi artırmıştır. Kocabağ Şarapları, üretimdeki başarısını uluslararası şarap yarışmalarında elde ettiği madalyalarla da kanıtlamıştır. Sonuç olarak, Kocabağ Şarapları, Kapadokya'nın zengin bağcılık geleneği ile birleşen modern üretim teknikleriyle öne çıkan bir şarap üreticisi olarak kendine sağlam bir yer edinmiştir.

Harnessing the region's natural advantages in climate, soil, and grape varieties, the winery's journey includes a pause in production after a tragic event in 1972. Resuming operations with resilience, the Erdoğan family expanded facilities and embraced modern techniques, elevating wine quality. Kocabağ Şarapları has earned international recognition, with medals from prestigious wine competitions attesting to its commitment to excellence. Seamlessly blending modern methods with Cappadocia's viticultural heritage, the winery stands out as a symbol of innovation and quality, redefining the winemaking landscape in this historic Turkish region.
