Recai Birgün'ün biyografisi

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin yakın tarihi siyasî açıdan oldukça hareketlidir. Bu dönemin bir parçası olan 1990’lı ve 2000’li yılların başlarında terör örgütlerinin faaliyetleri sebebiyle Doğu ve Güneydoğu Anadolu bölgelerinde yaşayan insanlar olumsuz etkilenmiş, birçok güvenlik personeli şehit düşmüş ve bu olaylardan dolayı Türkiye’de önemli sosyolojik ve demografik sorunlar ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu dönemde, güvenlik sorunlarının yanında ekonomik ve siyasî sıkıntılar da baş gösterdi. Özellikle Ecevit hükümetinde yaşanan anlaşmazlıklar sonucu tetiklenen 2001 Ekonomik Krizi bu dönemde oldukça büyük bir etki yaratmıştır. Bu dönemlerde Recai Birgün, Polis Teşkilatı’nın farklı şubelerinde aktif pozisyonlarda görev aldı. Polis Teşkilatı’ndaki uzun çalışma hayatından sonra dönemin başbakanı olan Bülent Ecevit’in koruma müdürlüğünü yaptı ve Bülent Ecevit’in vefatına kadar bu görevde kaldı. Bülent Ecevit’in vefatı sonrasında siyasetle daha çok yakınlaşan Recai Birgün, dört yıl milletvekili olarak görev yaptı. Bu araştırmada Recai Birgün’ün hayatı, icra ettiği farklı görevlerdeki yaşadıkları ve o dönemin Türkiye’sinde yaşanan olaylar hakkındaki görüşü ele alınmıştır.

The recent history of the Republic of Turkey was considerably tense in terms of politics. In 1990s and early 2000s, which were a part of this period, people living in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions of Turkey were adversely affected due to the activities of some terrorist organizations, many security personnel were martyred, and important sociological and demographic problems arose in Turkey due to these events. Besides these security problems, economic and political problems were also emerged in that period. Especially the 2001 Economic Crisis, which was triggered by the conflicts in the Ecevit government, had a great impact on this period. During these periods, Recai Birgün took active positions in different branches of the Police Service. After his long working life in the Police Department, he became the protection manager of Bülent Ecevit, who was the prime minister of the time, and remained in this position until Bülent Ecevit's death. After the death of Bülent Ecevit, Recai Birgün grew a closer relationship with politics and served as deputy for four years. In this research, Recai Birgün's life, his experiences in different duties and his view on the events that took place in Turkey of that period were discussed.
