dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada 1980-1990 yıllarında dönemin sosyal ve ekonomik şartları çerçevesinde gazeteci Yurdagül Şimşek ve Yurdagül Şimşek'in bir kadın gazeteci olarak meslek hayatı boyunca yaşadıkları ve bir kadın gazetecinin gözünden gazetecilik mesleği anlatılmaktadır. Bu dönemde yaşanan 12 Eylül darbesinin basında ve gazetecilikte oluşturduğu baskının yanı sıra, gazetecilik sektöründeki kadınlar diğer tüm mesleklerde olduğu gibi gerek işe alım süresince gerekse mesleklerini icra etmekte çeşitli problemlerle karşılaşmaktaydılar.
dc.description.abstractIn this study, the profession of journalism in 1980-1990 examines within the framework of the social and economic conditions of the period through the eyes of a female journalist; Yurdagül Şimşek. In addition to the pressure created by the September 12 coup in the press and in the journalism during this period, women in the journalism sector faced various problems with their employment and performing the profession.
