Gayret Gazetesi is a political, local newspaper founded by Hüseyin Karataş in Malatya, in 1948. Besides being a political newspaper, Gayret Gazeresi also published local news, poems written by local people and essays. Despite its affinity with the government in a political sense, the newspaper started to support Democratic Party over time, affected by the political orientation of the founder, Hüseyin Karataş. Changing its name as “İnkılap” due to an environment created by coup d’état in 1960 for a short period of time, the newspaper, becoming Gayret Gazetesi after that period, continued to be published with that name until 1994 when it was closed down.en_US
