dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makalede ODTÜ Uluslararası İlişkiler Bölümü’nün yıllar içindeki gelişimi, evrimi ve günümüzdeki yeri dört ana başlık ile Prof. Dr. Meliha Altunışık’ın gözünden ele alınacaktır. Ana başlıklar kapsamında, Türkiye’de uluslararası ilişkiler disiplinin ortaya çıkışı ve siyaset biliminden ayrılması, ODTÜ’deki disiplin ve eğitim anlayışı, ODTÜ Uluslararası İlişkiler Bölümünün kurucu ekolü ve ekolün izinden günümüzde kazandığı vizyon, akademik kariyer yapmak isteyen öğrenciler için istediği şartları ve gereksinimleri, son olarak ise ODTÜ baz alınarak uluslararası ilişkiler eğitimi veren üniversitelerin müfredatlarının karşılaştırmaları ve bölümün sunduğu iş imkanları incelenecektir. Sonuç bölümünde ise genel olarak uluslararası ilişkiler disiplinin günümüz ODTÜ’sündeki yeri, ODTÜ Uluslararası İlişkiler’in Türkiye’deki diğer uluslararası ilişkiler bölümlerinden farkları ve sunduğu imkanlar eksileri ve artılarıyla birlikte analiz edilecektir.
dc.description.abstractThis article is divided into four main sections that cover the history, development, and present status of the METU Department of International Relations through the Prof. Dr. Meliha Altunışık’s point of view. Inside the parameters of the primary headings, the emergence of the international relations discipline in Turkey and its separation from political science, the discipline and education approach at METU, the founding school of the METU International Relations Department, and the vision it has gained today following the school's footsteps, the conditions and requirements for students who want to pursue an academic career, the latest comparisons of the syllabus of universities that provide International Relations education based on METU and the job opportunities offered by the department will be examined. In the conclusion part, the place of the international relations discipline in today's METU in general, the differences of METU International Relations from other international relations departments in Turkey and the opportunities it offers will be analyzed together with its pros and cons.
