| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Kanser, Türkiye'de yılda ortalama 160 bin yeni kişinin mağdur kaldığı bir hastalıktır. Teşhisi ve tedavisi oldukça zorlu olup, erken teşhis olmadığında ölümle sonuçlanabilir. Türk Kanser Derneği, bu hastalığı odak noktası olarak almış olan bir sivil toplum örgütüdür. 1964 yılındaki kuruluşundan bu yana kanser hastalarına yardımcı olmak adına çalışmalar yapmış bir örgüttür. Örgüt, aynı zamanda Türkiye'deki kanser hakkındaki farkındalığı artırmaya yönelik çalışmalar da yapmış ve günümüzde de bu çalışmaları yapmaya devam etmektedir. Kanserin verdiği zararın, teşhis hızı ile olan etkileşimi yüzünden, bu tarz bilgilendirmeler oldukça önemlidir. Bu yazıda, kanser, dünya ve Türkiye'deki kanser tarihi ve Türk Kanser Derneğinin yıllar boyunca yaptığı projeler ve derneğin genel tarihi incelenecektir. | |
