Knidos Antik Kenti’nin kazı tarihi ve turizme kazandırılması

Abstract

Bu makale, Datça Yarımadasında yer alan Knidos Antik Kenti’nin; Prof. Dr. Ertekin Doksanaltı’nın görev aldığı yıllar ağırlıklı olmak üzere kazı tarihini, kentin turizme kazandırılma sürecini ve turizme katkılarını ele almak üzere yazılmıştır. Makalede 19. Yüzyılın ortalarında İngiliz arkeologlar tarafından başlatılan ilk kazılardan, modern dönemde Türk kazı ekiplerinin bölgedeki çalışmalarına kadar uzanan süreç incelenmiş; kazıların kente dair ortaya çıkardığı tarihsel ve kültürel bulgular ele alınmıştır. 2012 yılından bu yana kentin kazı başkanlığını sürdüren ve 1988 yılından beri kazıda görev alan Prof. Dr. Ertekin Doksanaltı ile yapılan sözlü röportaj ve yazılı kaynaklardan elde edilen bilgilerle; kentin moderrn kazı tarihi, arkeolojik değeri ve kentin turizm yoluyla nasıl değerlendirildiği ortaya 3 konmuştur. Makalenin amacı Knidos Antik Kenti’nin tarihinin anlaşılması, kazı sürecinin detaylandırılması ve kentin turistik potansiyelinin ortaya çıkarılmasıdır.

This article examines the excavation history of Knidos Ancient City located on the Datça Peninsula with a special focus on the period during the Prof. Dr. Ertekin Doksanaltı as an archeologist in the region, its process of it being integrated into tourism and its contributions to the tourism sector in the region. The study explores the timeline from the first excavations led by British archaeologists in the mid-19th century to the excavations in the modern period led by Turkish excavation teams in the region, focusing on the historical and cultural findings revealed through these excavations. Relying on information from a verbal interview with Prof. Dr. Ertekin Doksanaltı -who currently is the excavation president since 2012 and has been conducting archaeological research on the region since 1988- and written sources, the article examines the excavation history, archaeological significance and how the city’s value has been leveraged through tourism. The aim of this study is to enhance the understanding of the history of Knidos, detail its excavation process and highlight its touristic potential.
