dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAlpagut Linyit İşletmesi (ADL) Çorum’un ve çevre illerin kömür ihtiyacını uzun yıllar boyunca karşıladı. Özellikle 1965’ten itibaren işe alımdaki adam kayırma ve yandaş işletmelere veresiye satıştan dolayı madendeki düzen sekteye uğramaya başladı ve işçilerin maaşı gününde ödenmemeye başlandı. Maaşlarının gününde ödenmemesinden hoşnutsuzluk duyan ADL işçileri, yaptıkları onlarca eylem ve grevden yanıt alamayınca 13 Haziran 1969 günü madenin yönetimini ele geçirdi. Otuz dört gün süren öz yönetim süreci, 16 Temmuz 1969 tarihinde jandarma müdahalesi ile sonlandı. Bu yazıda, 13 Haziran günü işçiler tarafından madende kurulan öz yönetimin nedenleri, öz yönetim döneminde gerçekleşen önemli olaylar ve öz yönetim sonrası madenin durumunun detaylı bir şekilde ele alınması amaçlanmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractAlpagut Linyit İşletmesi (ADL) provided the coal need of both Çorum and cities near to Çorum for a very long time. Especially after 1965, the salaries of the workers were not paid on time due to favoritism in recruitment and the sale of lignite to subsidiary businesses on credit. When the workers, who were unsatisfied with receiving late salary payments, did not get any response from their activities and strikes, they attempted to take possession of the administration of the mine on 13 June, 1969. Self-governance of the mine lasted for 34 days, and it was ended by military poliçe on 16 July, 1969. In this paper, the reasons for selfgovernance of the workers starting on 13 June, 1969, the important events emerging during self-governance time, and what happens in the mine after the end of self-governance are intended to be addressed in detail.en_US
