Sivas Kongre Binasının tarihi ve belleklerdeki yeri

Abstract

Sivas Kongre Binası 1892 yılında Sivas İdadisi adı altında hizmete açılmıştır. Bu dönemde ülkede eğitimin çağdaşlaştırılması amaçlanarak açılan idadilerden bir tanesidir. Bu çalışmada binanın lise, müze ve Millî Mücadele dönemlerinde üstlendiği görevler ve şehir için önemi incelenmiştir. Araştırma sırasında Haluk Çağdaş ve Faruk Aburşu ile röportaj yapılmıştır. Kendilerine binadaki öğrencilik ve öğretmenlik yıllarına dair sorular sorulmuştur. Bununla birlikte kendilerinden binanın tarihi, işlevi, şehre etkisi ve şehir için önemi hakkında bilgiler alınmıştır. Ayrıca konuyla ilgili olan kitaplar, yerel dergiler ve hatıra kitapları da kaynak olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmayla Sivas Kongre Binasının tarihinin, lise ve müze olarak işlevinin, Millî Mücadele döneminde üstlendiği görevin, şehir hayatına olan etkilerinin ve şehir belleğindeki yerinin anlatılması amaçlanmaktadır.

Sivas Congress Building was opened in 1892 as Sivas High School. It was one of the schools opened in this period with the aim of modernizing education in the country. This study examines the roles the building played as a high school, museum, and during the Turkish War of Independence, as well as its significance for the city. During the research process, interviews were conducted with Haluk Çağdaş and Faruk Aburşu about their experiences as students and teachers in the building. In addition, information was received from them about the history of the building, its function, its effect on the city, and its importance for the city. Books, local magazines, and memoirs related to the subject were also used as sources. This study aims to explain the history of the Sivas Congress Building, its function as a high school and a museum, the role it played during the Turkish War of Independence, its effects on city life, and its place in the city's memory.
