Türk savunma sanayinin tarihsel gelişimi ve kilometre taşı: TÜBİTAK SAGE (savunma sanayii araştırma ve geliştirme enstitüsü)

Abstract

Savunma sanayisi bir ülkenin ulusal güvenliğini ve milli çıkarlarını korumak için gerekli olan silah, mühimmat, stratejik araçlar ve diğer askeri teçhizatları geliştiren ve üreten faaliyetler bütünüdür. Türk Savunma Sanayisi köklerini Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan alan ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşuyla birlikte gelişimini ivmelenerek günümüze kadarsürdüren bir milli harekettir. Türk Savunma sanayisi dört temel dönemden oluşur. 1923-1950 yılları arası ilk dönemde yeni kurulan cumhuriyetin maddi imkansızlıklarıyla savunma sanayisinin temelleri atılmıştır. 1950-1974 yılları arasındaki ikinci dönemde ABD ve NATO’nun askeri teçhizat yardımlarıyla milli savunma sanayinin gelişimi yavaşlamış ve durma noktasına gelmiştir. 1974-1985 yılları arasındaki üçüncü dönemde Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı sonrasında Türkiye’nin maruz kaldığı ABD ambargosu milli savunma sanayi bilincini geri getirmiştir. 1985’ten günümüze kadar olan dönemde Türk Savunma Sanayi, tarihinin en büyük yatırımlarını almış ve durmaksızın gelişimini sürdürmektedir. Türk Savunma Sanayinin temel bileşenlerinden biri olan TÜBİTAK Savunma Sanayii Araştırma ve Geliştirme Enstitüsü (SAGE), Türkiye'nin askerî ve teknolojik bilgi birikimini geliştirmek amacı ile kurulmuş bir enstitüdür. Türk Savunma Sanayi sektöründe 50 yılı aşan mevcudiyetiyle birçok ilke imza atmış ve çalışmalarını günümüzde Ankara’da sürdürmektedir.

The defense industry is a set of activities that develop and produce weapons,ammunition, strategic vehicles and other military equipment necessary to protect the national security and national interests of a country. The Turkish Defense Industry is a national movement that takes its roots from the Ottoman Empire and continues its development with the establishment of the Republic of Turkey until today. The Turkish Defense Industry consists of four main periods. In the first period between 1923-1950, the foundations of the defense industry were laid with the financial impossibilities of the newly established republic. In the second period between 1950-1974, the development of the national defense industry slowed down and came to a standstill with the military equipment aid of the USA and NATO. In the third period between 1974 and 1985, the US embargo that Turkey was subjected to after the Cyprus Peace Operation brought back the awareness of the national defense industry. In the period from 1985 to the present day, the Turkish Defense Industry has received the largest investments in its history and continues to develop non-stop. TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE), one of the main components of the Turkish Defense Industry, is an institute established to develop Turkey's military and technological know-how. With its presence in the Turkish Defense Industry sector for more than 50 years, it has achieved many firsts and continues its activities in Ankara today.
