dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1960-1990 yılları arasında Türkiye’de ve Dünya’da uyuşturucu ve kaçakçılık olaylarında büyük bir artış görülmüştü. Bu artışa engel olmak adına Türkiye’de birçok operasyon yapıldı. Bu operasyonlarda Atilla Aytek en önemli isimlerden biri oldu. 1968-1988 yılları arasında Emniyet Müdürlüğü’nde Narkotik Şubede ve ardından Kaçakçılık ve İstihbarat Daire Başkanlığı’nda çalışan Aytek, bu süreç içerisinde birçok başarılı operasyona imza attı. Bu çalışmada Atilla Aytek’in hayatı, Emniyet’e katkıları, kariyerindeki önemli olayları ve hakkındaki soruşturmaları anlatılmıştır. Bu konular, 1968-1988 yılları arasında Türkiye’nin uyuşturucu ve kaçakçılığa karşı verdiği mücadeleyi anlamak için çok önemlidir.en_US
dc.description.abstractBetween 1960 and 1990, there was a great increase in drug and smuggling incidents in Turkey and in the World. In order to prevent this increase, many operations were carried out in Turkey. Atilla Aytek was one of the most important names in these operations. Aytek, who worked in the Narcotics Branch of the Police Department and then in the Smuggling and Security Intelligence Department between 1968-1988 , carried out many successful operations during this period. In this study, Atilla Aytek's life, his contributions to the Police Department, important events in his career and investigations about him are explained. These issues are crucial to understand Turkey's struggle against drugs and smuggling between 1968 and 1988. Key Words: Attila Aytek, Police Department,Narcotic, Drugs, Smuggling.en_US
