Türkiye'nin ilk bağış okulu: Mehmet Çelikel Lisesi'nin tarihi

Bu araştırmada, Türkiye’nin ilk vakıf lisesi olan Mehmet Çelikel Lisesi konu alınmaktadır. II. Dünya Savaşı döneminde eğitime yeterli bütçe ayrılamadığından, Zonguldak’a lise yapılamamıştır. Mehmet Çelikel, bu sebeple kendisini ticarette geliştirerek kazandığı parayla bir vakıf oluşturmuş ve okulun finansını sağlayarak 120.000 TL masrafla 1938 yılında Zonguldak’ın ilk lisesi ve Türkiye’nin ilk vakıf lisesi olan Mehmet Çelikel Lisesini inşa etmiştir. Bu lise, eğitimin yanı sıra, spor ve tiyatroya çok önem vermiş, medyada yerini elde etmiştir.

This study subject is the first foundation high school of Turkey, Mehmet Çelikel High School. Due to World War II, the government couldn’t able to fund a high school in Zonguldak. Mehmet Çelikel has become successful in trading and founded a foundation to finance Mehmet Çelikel High School’s construction. In 1938, by spending 120.000 TL, he built the first high school of Zonguldak and the first foundation high school of Turkey. Other than the education, the high school also cared much about sports and theater and they acquired their place in the media.
