dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US
dc.description.abstractBu araştırma yazısında, Türk tıp dünyasının önemli doktorlarından Ermeni asıllı Türk dermatolog Prof. Doktor Agop Kotoğyan’ın azim dolu hayat hikayesinden, tıp literatürüne katkılarından ve çevresindeki insanların Agop Kotoğyan hakkındaki görüşlerinden bahsedilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Agop Kotoğyan, genç yaşında trajik bir kaza sonucu kolunu kaybetmesine rağmen azimli kişiliği sayesinde yılmayıp başarılı bir öğrencilik hayatı geçirdi. 54 yıllık çalışma hayatını Cerrahpaşa’da geçirdikten sonra Cerrahpaşa ile özdeşleşti. Dermatoloji alanındaki başarıları ve hastalarının memnuniyeti sebebiyle ünü arttı ve “Kolsuz Agop” olarak tanındı. Bu çalışmada Agop Kotoğyan’ın oğlu Garen Kotoğyan ile yaptığımız röportajdan ve Agop Kotoğyan hakkındaki gazete haberlerinden yararlanılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractIn this research article, one of the important doctors of the Turkish medical world, Armenian-born Turkish dermatologist Prof. It is aimed to talk about the determined life story of Doctor Agop Kotoğyan, his contributions to the medical literature and the opinions of the people around him about Agop Kotoğyan. Although Agop Kotoğyan lost his arm as a result of a tragic accident at a young age, he did not give up thanks to his determined personality and had a successful student life. After spending 54 years of his working life in Cerrahpaşa, he became identified with Cerrahpaşa. Due to his achievements in dermatology and the satisfaction of his patients, his reputation increased and he became known as "Armless Agop". In this study, the interview we had with Garen Kotoğyan, the son of Agop Kotoğyan, and the newspaper news about Agop Kotoğyan were used.
