Kadılıktan avukatlığa: Mehmet Emin Bolay

Abstract

Bu makale Mehmet Emin Bolay’ın Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e uzanan hayatını ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne katkılarını incelemektedir. Mehmet Emin Bolay köklü bir aile olan Bolay ailesinde dünyaya gelmiştir. Önce rüştiye eğitimi ardından medrese eğitimi almıştır aynı zamanda hafızdır. Daha sonra birçok bölgede kadılık yapmıştır. Millî Mücadele yıllarında çıkardığı İbret Gazetesi ile basında büyük yankı oluşturmuştur. Gazetesi ile Kuvâ-yı Milliye’ye desteğini göstermiştir. İlerleyen zamanlarda bazı siyasi nedenlerden dolayı kadılığı bırakmak durumunda kalmıştır. Meslek hayatına Konya’da avukatlık yaparak devam etmiştir. Avukatlığı sırasında birçok makale yazmıştır ve bu makaleler çeşitli gazetelerde yayımlanmıştır. Makalelerinde eleştiri alacak dahi olsa doğru gördüklerini söylemekten çekinmemiştir. Konya’da bulunduğu süreçte Delibaş Mehmet isyanına karşı çıkmıştır. Halkın iradesinin hiçe sayıldığı Aslan köy olayında mağdur olan halkı savunmuş, gönüllü avukatlık yapmıştır. Dönemin önemli siyasi kişileri ile iyi ilişkileri olmuştur. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin modern ve laik bir eğitim sistemine sahip olması adına çeşitli reformlar önermiş ve uygulamıştır. Aynı zamanda felsefe ve sosyoloji konularında önemli eserler ortaya koymuştur.

This examines Mehmet Emin Bolay’s life from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Türkiye and his contributions to the Republic of Türkiye. Mehmet Emin Bolay was born into Bolay Family which is a prominent family. He first completed his secondary education at “rüştiye” and then got educated in “mektep”. (These institutions were used in the Ottoman Empire for traditional education.) Besides, he had memorized the entire Quran. Later on, he had been in many places as Qadi. He created a great impact with the newspaper he published in the National Struggle years. He showed his support for “Kuvâ-yı Milliye” with his newspaper. Later on, he needed to resign from being Qadi due to political reasons. He continued his professional life as a lawyer in Konya. In his life as a lawyer he wrote many articles and these articles were published in many newspapers. He did not hesitate to say what he thinks is true even when he knew those ideas would be criticized. When he was in Konya he opposed to Delibaş Mehmet rebellion. He defended the people who were victimized in the Aslanköy incident, where the will of the people was disregarded, and provided voluntary legal representation. He had good relations with important politicians of that time. He recommended and implemented many reforms for the Republic of Türkiye’s education system to be modern and secular. At the same time, he produced important works on philosophy and sociology.
