dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırma Balıkesir SEKA Kâğıt Fabrikası yılları arasında açılışını, kapatılmasını ve tekrar modernize edilmesini konu almaktadır. 1972-1981 yılları arasında kurulan ve 1998’e kadar faaliyetlerine devam eden ve daha sonra kapatılan Balıkesir SEKA kâğıt fabrikasının şimdilerde modernize olarak Türkiye’de kâğıt üretiminin büyük ölçüde Balıkesir’den sağlanması ve daha önceden ithal aldığımız ürünlerin de Türkiye’de üretilmesi; ayrıca hurda ve atık katı ürünlerin tekrar kazanılması hedefleniyor. Kâğıt üretiminde inişli çıkışlı yeri olan Balıkesir Fabrikasının tarihi incelenecek. Bu araştırmaya yön verecek temel kaynaklar: açılış döneminde ve daha sonra SEKA’da çalışmış insanlar ve Balıkesir SEKA üzerine yazılmış kitaplar. Döneminin fabrika müdürü ve atölye bakım şefiyle yapılan röportajlar ile konu daha derin araştırma sürecine girmiştir. Araştırma yazısının birinci bölümünde, Türkiye’de kâğıt üretiminin başlaması ve Balıkesir SEKA’nın kuruluş süreci üzerinde durulmaktadır. Ardından fabrikanın fiziki yapısı, Balıkesir SEKA Fabrikası’ nın çalışma süreci, fabrikanın kapatılması ve ardından gelen olaylar ve son olarak da fabrikanın özelleşmesi ile günümüzdeki durumu ele alınmaktadıren_US
dc.description.abstractThis research focuses on the opening, closure and re-modernization of the SEKA Paper Factory in Balıkesir. Established between the years 1972-1981 and continued to operate until 1998 and then closed Balikesir Seka paper factory is now in the provision of modernized paper production in Balikesir and to produce previously imported products to Turkey in Turkey; it also aims to recover scrap and waste solid products. The history of the Balıkesir plant, which has a bumpy place in paper production, will be examined. The main sources that will guide this research are: people who worked in SEKA during the opening period and later, and books written by Balıkesir SEKA community. With the interviews conducted with the factory manager and workshop maintenance chief of the period, the subject has entered into a deeper research process. In the first part of the research article, focuses on the start of the paper production process in Turkey and Balikesir SEKA establishment. Then, the physical structure of the factory, the executer/working class of the Balıkesir SEKA plant, the bankruptcy of the factory and the subsequent events, finally what state the factory currently is discussed.en_US
