| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Deq is a type of tattoo that men and women in the Southeast Region of Turkey used to get on their bodies by using breast milk, ash and needle. It has survived for generations because local people believe that getting these tattoos brings luck and makes women more beautiful. However; today, this tradition is abandoned and couldn’t be transferred to new generations because of the changing conception of aesthetic and the belief that having tattoos is a sin. This article focuses on the history of deq tradition, application of deq, its place in society and the relation between deq and modern tattoo culture. | en_US |
