dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractDünya üzerinde uzun yıllardır yapılmakta olan ve ülkemizde bilinirliği Veliefendi Hipodromu sayesinde artan at yarışları, ülkemizin kültürünü ve yapısını değiştirmiştir. Veliefendi Hipodromunun temelleri 1911 yılında Almanlardan oluşan bir bilim grubu ve Enver Paşa tarafından atılmıştır. Açıldığı dönemden günümüze kadar Veliefendi Çayırında yarışlara olan ilgi yüksektir. Veliefendi Hipodrom Müdürü Çetin Özdemir ve Ankara Hipodrom Müdürü Adnan Demirci'den alınan önemli bilgilerden, gazete ve resim arşivlerinden, Veliefendi Hipodromu'nun tarihçesini anlatan kitaplardan faydalanılmıştır. Veliefendi Hipodromunda yaşanan tarihi olaylar ve atçılığın ülkemizdeki gelişimi kronolojik bir sırayla anlatılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractThe horse races, which have been held in the world for many years and are known in our country thanks to Veliefendi Racecourse, have changed the culture and structure of our country. The foundations of Veliefendi Racecourse was laid in 1911 by a science group consisting of Germans and Enver Pasha. There is a high interest in races in Veliefendi Meadow since its opening. Important information received from Veliefendi Hippodrome Director Çetin Özdemir and Ankara Hippodrome Director Adnan Demirci, newspaper and Picture archives, books about the history of Veliefendi Hippodrome were used. Historical events in Veliefendi Racecourse and the development of horse riding in our country are described in chronological order.
