dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürk Metal ve Rock müziğine büyük etkileri bulunan Pentagram 1986 yılında kuruldu. Kuruldukları dönem ve sonrasında metal ve rock müziğinin Türkiye'de yaygın olmaması ve bu müzik türlerinin Türk müzik kültürüne hayli uzak olması sebebiyle halktan bazı olumsuz tepkiler aldılar. Bu tepkilere aldırmadan metal müzik grubu olarak devam ederek Anadolu motiflerini metal müzikle birleştirmeyi denediler. Bu şekilde Türk müzik kültürüne metal müziği, dünyaya ise Türk kültürünü tanıttılar. Pentagram, Athena, Mor ve Ötesi ve Özlem Tekin gibi günümüz rock müziğinde önemli rol oynayan müzisyenlere ve gruplara olan etkileri sebebiyle Türk Rock müziğinde önemli bir rol oynamaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThe band Pentagram, which had fundamentally affected Turkish metal and rock music, was formed in 1986. Both in the year of the band's creation and the following years, the band received some negative reactions from Turkish people because at that time rock and metal music were not popular music genres in Turkey and they were very different from Turkish music culture. Despite these reactions, the band continued to play metal music and they tried to combine Anatolian themes with this music genre. The band introduced metal music to Turkish music culture and they introduced Turkish culture to the rest of the world. The band still plays an important role in Turkish rock music due to its influence on musicians and bands such as Athena, Mor ve Ötesi and Özlem Tekin.
