dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAziz Yıldırım, 2 Kasım 1952 tarihinde Diyarbakır'ın Ergani ilçesinde dünyaya gelmiştir. 1970 yılında lise eğitimini tamamlayan Aziz Yıldırım, eğitimine devam etmek adına Ankara’ya taşınmıştır. Aziz Yıldırım Gazi Üniversitesi İnşaat Mühendisliği bölümünde lisans eğitimini tamamlamasının ardından iş hayatına atılmıştır. 1998 yılında Fenerbahçe’nin 36. Başkanı olarak seçilen Aziz Yıldırım, 20 yıllık başkanlık sürecinde 8 olağan, 4 kez olağanüstü 12 kongre de Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü başkanı seçilmiştir. 3 Temmuz 2011 günü başlayan şike süreci ve soruşturmalar, Aziz Yıldırım’ın hayatında yer edinmiştir. Her ne kadar Aziz Yıldırım cezaevinden 2 Temmuz 2012 tarihinde tahliye olsa da hakkında görülen davalar ve yargı süreci kesin olarak 20 Aralık 2021 tarihinde Yargıtay tarafından onanması ile Yıldırım lehine sonuçlanmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractAziz Yıldırım was born on November 2, 1952, in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır. After completing his high school education in 1970, he moved to Ankara to continue his education. After completing his undergraduate education at Gazi University, Department of Civil Engineering, he continued his career in business life. In addition to his business life, Aziz Yıldırım, who was elected as the 36th President of Fenerbahçe in 1998, was elected the president of Fenerbahçe Sports Club in 8 ordinary congresses and 4 extraordinary 12 congresses during his 20-year presidency. The match-fixing process and investigations, which started on July 3, 2011, have been on the agenda for a long time in Aziz Yıldırım's life. Although Aziz Yıldırım was released from prison on July 2, 2012, the lawsuits against him and the judicial process were finalized in Yıldırım's favor with the final approval of the Court of Cassation on December 20, 2021.en_US
