dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractMatbaanın Osmanlıya gelmesiyle birlikte gazeteler yaygınlaşmıştır. Bu durum basılı reklam faaliyetlerine zemin hazırlamıştır. David Samanon'un 1909 yılında, gazetelerdeki reklam işlerinde çalışmaya başlaması bu reklam faaliyetlerine örnek olarak verilebilir. Samanon'un uğraşları İlancılık AŞ’nin temelini oluşturmuştur. İlancılık AŞ Türkiye’de faaliyetlerini sürdüren en eski reklamcılık şirketi unvanına sahiptir. Ayrıca reklamcılık sektöründe çeşitli ilklere imza atmıştır ve “Reklamcılık Okulu” olarak da bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmada İlancılık AŞ’nin kuruluşu, sektöre getirdiği yenilikler, yükselişi, yöneticileri ve yirmi birinci yüzyıldaki durumu anlatılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractImport of printing press on the Ottoman Empire has extended the usage of newspapers. That leads to development of business of advertisement. David Samanon's job for newspapers about advertisement in 1909 is an example of business of advertisement. This speciality has become the foundations of İlancılık. İlancılık is the oldest active company about advertisement in the Turkey. Also, İlancılık is the father of several innovative ideas in the business of advertisement and called as "School of Advertisement". In that study, foundation of İlancılık, innovative ideas, progress of the company, managers of the company and the status of the company in 21th century has been explained.
