dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractİlk önce Gençlik Parkı ve sonrasında Kurtuluş Parkı’ndaki buz pateni faaliyetleri ile Bahçelievler'de Bel-Pa Buz Pateni Sarayı’nın açılması sağlandı. Bel-Pa, günümüze kadar birçok uluslararası yarışmaya, turnuvaya ve etkinliğe ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Sadece Ankara'da değil,Türkiye'de de buz pateni sporunun tanınmasında ve birçok sporcunun çıkmasında öncülük etmiştir. Fakat Bel-Pa'nın gelişimi hakkında her şey olumlu sonuçlanmamış ve beklendiği sayıda sporcu yetişmemiştir. Bunun en büyük sebepleri ise yönetim şekilleri ve eğitim sistemi ile alakalıdır. Doğal olarak bu durum başta Bel-Pa'da olmak üzere, Türkiye'de buz pateni sporunun gelişmesini engellemiştir. Buna rağmen Bel-Pa, bu spor için önemli bir tesis olma özelliğini sürdürmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractInitially, ice skating performed in Gençlik Park and Kurtulus Park by those who like this sport. Then, the establishment called Bel-Pa was opened in Bahçelievler. International championships, activities and tournaments were started to be organized in this facility. Bel-Pa enabled ice skating to be acknowledged both in Ankara and Turkey and this situation resulted in development of many successful sporters. However, Bel-Pa has encountered many problems and hasn't given opportunities to sporters as expected. Administration patterns and education system in Turkey can be given as examples among many crucial reasons. These problems have caused the unimprovement of ice sports in Bel-Pa. Nevertheless, Bel-Pa has continued to be an establishment that is significant for ice skating in Turkey.en_US
