This study focuses on the craft of knife making and the master-apprentice stages, as well as the changing dynamics of artisan-community relations in Bursa, where knife makers earn their livelihood through knife making. These aspects are explored through an interview conducted with Faik Atlas, a retired practitioner of this craft. The significance of the stages in the profession and the impact of industrialization on the craft-community relationship will be investigated. Through this research, differences between the profession in the present day and the past will be highlighted. By starting from the Bursa case, the aim is to obtain a panoramic view of the situation of knife makers throughout Turkey. The ultimate goal of the study is to identify the reasons for the transformation of the craft and its effects.
