dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract22 Haziran 1965 tarihli ve 12029 sayılı Resmî Gazete’de yayımlanan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti ile Hollanda Krallığı arasında imzalanan İş Gücü Sözleşmesi kapsamında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nden belirli şartları sağlayan vatandaşların işçi olarak Hollanda Krallığı'na gönderilmesine karar verilmiştir. Bu kapsamda Kayseri'nin Kayapınar beldesinde yaşayan yaklaşık üç bin Türk işçi, Hollanda Krallığı'nın Dordrecht kentine göç etmiştir. Daha sonra anlaşılmıştır ki Dordrecht'te çalışan işçilerin çoğunluğu aslında Kayseri'nin Kayapınar beldesinden gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada; Türkiye'de önemli bir konu olan işçi göçleri, Kayapınar’dan Avrupa’ya olan göçün nedenleri, Avrupa’ya giden işçilerin yaşamları ve adaptasyon süreçleri, Hollanda Dordrecht Belediyesi’nin Kayapınar köyünün sosyolojik açıdan incelenmesi için yaptığı ziyaret ve işçi göçlerinin hem Kayapınarlı gurbetçilere hem de Kayapınar’da kalan nüfusa etkileri anlatılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractWithin the scope of the Labor Agreement which is signed between the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, published in the Resmi Gazete dated 22 June 1965 and numbered 12029, it has been decided to send the citizens of Republic of Turkey who meet the certain conditions to the Kingdom of Netherlands to work there. In this context, approximately three thousand Turkish workers living at Kayapınar village of Kayseri were immigrated to Dordrecht, city of the Kingdom of Netherlands. Later, it was understood that the majority of the workers working in Dordrecht actually came from the Kayapınar town of Kayseri. In this study, labor migration, which is an important issue in Turkey, the causes of migration from Kayapınar to Europe, the lives and adaptation processes of workers going to Europe, the visit of the Dordrecht Municipality to examine Kayapınar village from a sociological perspective, the effects on both the immigrants from Kayapınar and the population staying in Kayapınar are explained.en_US
