dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractYunus Emre 13.yüzyılda yaşamış Türk tasavvuf ve halk şairidir. Eserlerinde Türk kültürünü arı bir dille sunan ve sevgi, hoşgörü, insancıllık gibi konulara değinen ozanın şiirleri ve öğretileri asırlardır edebiyat ve tarih araştırmacıları tarafından incelenmektedir. Bu uğurda çalışmalar yürüten ve Yunus Emre karakterinin çağrıştırdığı yardımlaşma ve dayanışma kavramlarının çatısı altında kurulan birçok dernek mevcuttur. Bu araştırma, Türkiye Yunus Emre Dernekleri Federasyonu'nun kurucusu ve başkanı, araştırmacı-yazar Faruk Dilaver'in hayatı ve federasyonun yürüttüğü birtakım çalışmalar üzerinedir. Ayrıca Faruk Dilaver'in 1970'li yıllarda Türkiye'nin çeşitli yerlerinde bilişim sistemlerinin tanıtılması ve yaygınlaşması adına verdiği bilgisayar dersleri doğrultusunda Türkiye'de bilgisayarın kısa bir tarihçesine ve Dilaver'in bu alandaki katkılarına da yer verilmiştir. Yunus Emre üzerine çalışmalar yürüten ve yardımlaşma faaliyetleri düzenleyen federasyonun başkanı Faruk Dilaver'in Türkiye'de bilgisayar teknolojisinin tanıtılması ve yaygın hale gelmesi adına sürdürdüğü çalışmalar da onun farklı alanlardaki etkinliğini göstermektedir.
dc.description.abstractYunus Emre was a Turkish poet and Sufi mystic who lived in the 13th century. His poems and teachings which present the Turkish language with purism and mention subjects such as love, tolerance and humanity have been analyzed by historians and people of letters for centuries. There are many associations that are carrying out practices about this purpose while gathering under the cooperative and solidary notion that Yunus Emre evokes. This research paper is a biography of Faruk Dilaver; investigative writer/journalist, the founder and the chairman of Turkey Federation of Yunus Emre Associations (Türkiye Yunus Emre Dernekleri Federasyonu) and about the activities the federation is carrying out. This paper also includes Dilaver's contributions on introduction and circulation of information systems in Turkey, educations of computers he had taught and therefore a brief history of computers in Turkey. His contributions to the computer technologies with the works he's doing about Yunus Emre and the activities of the federation indicates how active he is on multiple areas.
