dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu araştırmada, Ankara'nın Çubuk ilçesinin yöresel bir ürünü olan Çubuk turşusunun tarihi ve ünlenmesi araştırılmıştır. Geleneksel değere sahip olan Çubuk turşusu Ankara'nın önemli bir kültürüdür ve bu araştırmada bu kültüre dikkat çekilmek istenmiştir. İlk olarak Çubuk ilçesinden ve turşudan genel olarak bahsedilmiştir. Daha sonra, Çubuk turşusunun özellikleri hakkında ayrıntıya girilmiş ve turşunun patentinin alınması süreci paylaşılmıştır. Patent alım sürecinin ve sonrasının ilçeye etkilerinden bahsedilmiştir. Bu konuda bilgi edinmek için, turşu firmalarından birinin sahibi olan Salim Işık ile görüşülmüştür.
dc.description.abstractIn this research, local product of Çubuk district in Ankara, Çubuk pickle was investigated in terms of ist history and reputation. Çubuk pickle which has a traditional value, has an important place in Ankara culture and this research aims to highlight ist importance. First of all, the Çubuk district and pickle was referred generally. After that, the properties of Çubuk pickle was explained in detail and its patent process was shared. The patent process and ist effects to the district were indicated. To get information about the subject, an owner of one of the pickle firms, Salim Işık, was interviewed.
