İlk haftalik aktüalite mecmuasi: Akis

Metin Toker’in denetimi altında kurulan ve Türkiye’nin siyasi dergilerinden biri olan Akis dergisi, 1954 yılında yayın hayatına başladı ve yayın hayatı boyunca toplam 706 sayı yayınladı. Dergi, ilk yıllarında tarafsız bir tutum sergilese de zamanla dönemin muhalefet partisi olan Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’nin (CHP) politikalarını destekledi ve o dönemde iktidar olan Demokrat Parti’ye (DP) karşı eleştirilerde bulundu. İç siyaset hakkındaki görüşlerini “Yurtta Olup Bitenler” başlığı altında inceleyen dergi, bundan farklı olarak dış siyaset gündemini “Dünyada Olup Bitenler” başlığı kapsamında inceledi. Dergi, dönem siyasetine etki etmiş olsa da yazıları siyasetle sınırlı kalmamıştır. Siyaseti konu alan başlıklarının dışında “Kadınlar Arasında” , “Sanat Dünyasında” ve “Spor Âleminde” başlıkları altında toplumun sosyo-kültürel yaşamını da yazılarında bulundurdu. Yayın hayatına 1967 yılında son veren dergi, Türk tarihinde siyasi dergiler arasında bir yere sahipti. Bizler de bu makale vasıtasıyla Akis dergisinin bu alt başlıklarında yazılanları ve derginin dönemine olan etkisini inceleyeceğiz.

Akis, a political journal that was published in 1954, was created under the supervision of Metin Toker; and during its publication life, it yielded 706 editions. Even though the journal had an unbiased outlook on recent developments of its first few years, after a while, it had established a favor among the opposing party to the ruling party, which was “Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi” (CHP), and criticized the governing party, that is called “Demokrat Parti” (DP). The journal has confined its opinions about civil policy under the title of “Things Happening in the Country”. Additionally, to express their assessments of current developments on the globe, they opened a title which is called “Things Happening in the Globe”. Although Akis mainly revolved around political notions, they also reserved sections for different topics. Regarding the topics where it was more culturally oriented, following titles can be seen in the journal “Between Women”, “In the World of Art”, and “In the World of Sports”. These titles included ideas in relation to sociocultural lifestyle. This journal, which had a place among the political journals of Turkey, released its last issue in 1967. We are planning to express the things written below these titles, and indicate the effect that this journal had on politics of its time, through this article.
