dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürkiye'de doğup büyüyen ve sonrasında yaşamına Avrupa’nın çeşitli yerlerinde devam eden Aysel Özakın, Türk edebiyatının önemli kadın yazarlarından biridir. Eserlerinde cinsiyet eşitliği ve azınlık hakları gibi değerleri çokça işlemiş ve bu alandaki sorunlara çözümler üretmeye çalışması ile meşhur olmuştur. 12 Eylül 1980 darbesi sonrasında gittiği Almanya’da entelektüel ayrımcılık ve ırkçılık gibi zorluklarla karşılaşan Özakın, yazmayı hiçbir zaman bırakmayarak çeşitli dillerde eserler vermeye devam etmiştir. Bu çalışmada Aysel Özakın’ın çocukluk yıllarından günümüze kadar uzanan hayat hikayesi, çeşitli alanlardaki mücadeleleri ve edebi eserleri incelenecektir.
dc.description.abstractAysel Özakın, who was born and raised in Turkey and later continued her life in various parts of Europe, is one of the important female writers of Turkish literature. He extensively discussed women and their values in his works and became famous for trying to find solutions to problems in this field. Özakın, who endured many difficulties after the coup of September 12, 1980, never stopped writing and made great contributions to the world of literature with many works he wrote in various languages. In this study, the character, relationships, and change and development of Özakın's literary works, from his childhood years to the present, will be examined, which is a source of inspiration in many aspects.
