dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırmanın konusu olan İmren Aykut, Türkiye’nin ilk kadın Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik bakanıdır. Aykut’un 12 Eylül 1980 darbesi döneminde başlayan ve Çevre Bakanı olduğu döneme kadarki siyasi hayatı incelenecek, aynı zamanda dönemin siyasi dengeleri hakkında bilgiler verilecektir. Siyasi hayatının ardından Aykut’un kurduğu Çevre, Eğitim, Sağlık ve Sosyal Yardımlaşma Vakfı (ÇESAV) ile çeşitli sosyal projelerde aktif rol oynayarak birçok faaliyette bulunması sonucu topluma sağladığı katkı aktarılacaktır. Kendi yaşadığı dönemi ve kendisinden sonra gelen kadınların Türkiye siyasetinde rol almalarının önünü açan İmren Aykut’un önemi aktarılmaya çalışılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractImren Aykut, the topic of this study, is Turkey's first female Minister of Labor and Social Security. Aykut's political career, which began with the September 12, 1980 coup d'état and finished with her appointment as Minister of Environment, will be reviewed, and information about the political balances of the time will be provided. After her political life, Aykut's contribution to society as a result of playing an active role in various social projects with the ÇESAV foundation, which she established, will be conveyed. The significance of Imren Aykut, who set the path for the women who came after her to play a role in Turkish politics, will be attempted to be emphasized.en_US
