dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST209) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractThe following essay gives detailed information about Esref Kuschubasi, one of the members of Teskilati-Mahsusa, who has gained much of a reputation for being recognized as a hero or traitor throughout his life. Although Esref Kuschubasi displayed himself as a brave soldier especially in his military career and the following wars such as Balkan Wars, his attitude towards the newly formed Turkish Republic under Mustafa Kemal Ataturk changed and made him become against the Turkish Republic and its rule over the region. Esref Kuschubasi was the one who attempted to change the regime of the Turkish Republic by committing more and more crimes as well as joining some rebellious groups such as “Cerkez Ethem’’. Consequently, due to the archive of the Turkish Republic, Esref Kuschibasi was considered primarily guilty of his dangerous actions against the Turkish Republic.en_US
dc.description.abstractAşağıdaki makale, hayatı boyunca kahraman ya da hain olarak tanınması ile ün kazanmış olan Teşkilatı-Mahsusa üyelerindn Eşref Kuscubasi hakkında ayrıntılı bilgi vermektedir. Eşref Kuscubasi, özellikle askeri kariyerinde ve Balkan Savaşları gibi sonraki savaşlarda kendisini cesur bir asker olarak gösterse de Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün önderliğinde yeni kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne karşı tavrı değişmiş ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne ve bölge üzerindeki kurallarına aykırı hale gelmiştir. oGiderek daha fazla suç işleyerek ve “Çerkez Ethem” gibi bazı isyancı gruplara katılarak Türkiye Cumhuriyeti rejimini değiştirmeye çalışan kişi Eşref Kuscubasi idi. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti arşivlerine göre, Eşref Kuscubasi öncelikle Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne karşı yaptığı tehlikeli eylemlerden suçlu kabul edildi.en_US
