Umur Birand is the son of Mehmet Ali Birand, who became renowned and popular in the 1990s through the 32nd Day Program, which did not conform to traditions and gained fame through unconventional methods during a period of limited journalism and news sources. In the complicated political atmosphere of the 1990s, the establishment of the Radio and Television Supreme Council in 1994, which directly influenced the 32nd Day Program, and the effects of the Censorship Law on news programs will be examined. Additionally, the challenges and difficulties faced by the 32nd Day documentary from the 1990s until 2016 will be thoroughly investigated. Key aspects to be considered in this research include societal and political reactions to the 32nd Day Documentary, as well as any censorship attempts by various government institutions and politicians. The focus will be on the impact of censorship or restrictions imposed on the 32nd Day, which plays a significant role in shaping the collective memory of the nation, on the formation process of societal memory.
